The soft power that has been saving the world

I DON’T RUSH THROUGH LIFE

Music B. Emelianov Lyrics R. Rozhdestvensky Performing V. Kikabidze

I DON’T RUSH THROUGH LIFE

Music B. Emelianov Lyrics R. Rozhdestvensky Performing V. Kikabidze Translation Em Rostverg

Oh, in childhood, time seemed to drag on slowly,
Oh, my heart then was beating thunderously.
To me, those who were twenty-one belonged to the prehistoric time.
And I tried to grow up so much really faster every day and every night.

And one fine day, I had crossed this line
And looked at it already with a smile.
And you can see I live and love,
And I have stopped my rushing through my life.

Oh, how at twenty the dawn was shining brightly,
Oh, how at twenty the songs sounded loudly.
For me, the people over forty-plus were something like old patriarchs.
They were oftentimes sick, they lost the state of bliss,
And I pitied them at least.

And one fine day, I had crossed this line
And looked at it already with a smile.
And you can see I live and love,
And I have stopped my rushing through my life.

What a pity, nights have become much longer,
What a pity, my calendars are shorter.
The world is spinning around me; my friends are walking on with me.
When shall I be tired, when will oldness come,
I still cannot understand.

And one fine day, I’ll cross even this line
And look at it with a pretty sad smile.
But I will live and I will love,
I won’t be rushing and pushing through my life.
